Overview
PA (Polyamide / Nylon) film, also known as BOPA film, is a high-performance functional lamination substrate, completing the four core flexible packaging materials together with PE, PP and PET films. Produced via biaxial stretching of PA6 resin, it stands out with unmatched puncture resistance, excellent oxygen barrier and wide temperature tolerance. It is widely applied as the middle reinforcing barrier layer of composite packaging to protect sharp, oily and perishable goods for global export markets.
1. Core Properties of PA Film
PA film owns exclusive mechanical and barrier advantages that cannot be replaced by PE, PP and PET films:
- Superior puncture & tear resistance: It features the strongest anti-puncture performance among common packaging films, effectively resisting damage from bones, seafood shells, metal hardware and sharp contents during transportation and vacuum sealing.
- High oxygen & oil barrier performance:Excellent gas blocking capacity slows food oxidation, while outstanding oil resistance fits greasy snacks, cooked food and seasoning packaging to extend shelf life greatly.
- Ultra-wide temperature adaptability: Stable performance ranges from -60°C deep freezing to 130°C high-temperature retort sterilization, compatible with cold-chain frozen food and boiling cooking bags.
- Outstanding flexibility & bending resistance: It will not crack or form pinholes after repeated folding and extrusion, ideal for long-distance sea transportation of heavy-duty packaging.
- Food safety compliance: Our food-grade PA film adopts pure original resin, odorless and non-toxic, fully meeting EU, FDA and Southeast Asia food contact standards for cross-border export.
2. Main Functions & Packaging Positioning
In the four mainstream packaging substrates, PA film acts as the functional middle barrier layer of multi-layer composite structures, without independent heat-sealing capacity. It always matches heat-sealable inner PE film and printing outer PET film to form classic three-layer composite structures.
- PA + PE Structure: Cost-effective two-layer laminate for vacuum frozen food, seafood and meat packaging, balancing puncture resistance and reliable heat sealing.
- PET + PA + PE Structure: Premium three-layer composite solution integrating high-definition printing, strong barrier and super puncture resistance, for high-end retort food and sharp-content packaging.
PA film fills the performance gap of PET and PE films in anti-puncture and oxygen isolation, becoming the mandatory material for high-protection flexible packaging.
3. Typical Application Scenarios
PA film is preferred for packaging requiring high toughness, oil resistance and long fresh-keeping cycle:
- Food packaging: Vacuum meat, frozen seafood, marinated bone snacks, oily nuts, retort pouches and liquid seasonings
- Daily chemical packaging: High oil-content lotion and sauce refill bags with sharp particle raw materials
- Industrial packaging: Hardware metal parts, electronic component anti-oxidation packaging and heavy-duty industrial moisture-proof sacks
- Agricultural packaging: Fresh produce, grain vacuum storage bags and cold-chain agricultural product transport pouches
