PE Film Introduction

07.13.2026

Overview

PE (Polyethylene) film is the most cost-effective universal flexible packaging substrate, one of the four core packaging films together with PP, PET and PA. Produced via blown or cast film extrusion, it is the essential heat-sealing inner layer for single-layer and multi-layer composite packaging. We supply LDPE, HDPE, LLDPE and various customized functional PE films, with outstanding low-temperature resistance, soft texture and stable moisture barrier. All food-grade raw materials meet global cross-border food contact standards, supplying packaging converters, brand owners and trading companies worldwide.

1. Core Types & Unique Properties of PE Film

We classify PE film into three mainstream base grades plus customized functional series, each with exclusive performance for different packaging demands:

  • LDPE Film: Soft texture with mild haze and excellent hot tack sealing. It prevents scratch damage during lamination and bag making, keeping stable sealing strength at low heat to avoid liquid and powder leakage. Widely used as inner sealing layer for snack bags, daily chemical refill pouches and general dry food packaging.
  • HDPE Film: High rigidity and strong puncture resistance with moderate oil barrier. Its dense molecular structure greatly reduces water vapor transmission, providing superior moisture and dust protection, suitable for heavy-duty industrial liners, grain packaging and supermarket shopping bags.
  • LLDPE Film: Combines LDPE’s softness and HDPE’s tensile strength, featuring remarkable tear resistance and cold tolerance. It never turns brittle or cracks under sub-zero temperatures, ideal for frozen cold-chain packaging, pallet stretch wrap and agricultural fresh-keeping sacks.

Custom functional PE films are available with modified additives to meet special needs: anti-fog, anti-static, high-slip matte printing and UV-resistant agricultural PE film for diversified industrial scenarios.

2. Main Functions & Packaging Positioning

Among four mainstream packaging substrates (PE/PP/PET/PA), PE film is positioned as the standard heat-sealable inner layer of composite packaging. It cannot be used as printing outer layer alone, and usually matches PET or BOPP outer printing films to form mature composite structures.

  • PET + PE Lamination: The most widely used cost-effective composite structure, balancing high-definition printing, oxygen barrier and reliable heat sealing for most food and cosmetic export packaging.
  • PA + PE Lamination: High-toughness vacuum composite structure with super puncture resistance, perfect for frozen seafood, meat and sharp-content food packaging.

Relying on unique moisture-proof and low-temperature resistant performance, PE film fills the sealing and cold-resistance blank of PET and PA films, becoming the indispensable inner-layer material for all kinds of flexible packaging.

3. Typical Application Scenarios

PE film is widely adopted in packaging requiring flexible heat sealing, moisture insulation and cold resistance:

  • Food packaging: Frozen seafood, fruits, vegetables, baked snacks, nuts, seasoning powder and vacuum refrigerated food inner bags
  • Daily chemical packaging: Detergent pouches, shampoo refill bags and skincare product inner sealing layers
  • Industrial packaging: Hardware moisture-proof lining, electronic anti-static storage film and logistics pallet stretch wrap
  • Agricultural packaging: Mulch film, fruit & vegetable fresh-keeping bags and UV-resistant greenhouse covering film

4. Our PE Film Advantages

We produce standard and functional PE films specially designed for lamination, printing and high-speed bag-making. All rolls feature uniform thickness and stable corona surface tension, effectively avoiding common processing defects such as weak sealing, pinholes, delamination and machine jamming.

Matched with our full series of PET and PA films, we provide customers with complete multi-layer composite packaging material solutions. Custom thickness, width, surface treatment and functional additives are supported to fit different international market standards and customer processing equipment requirements. All raw materials are food-safe and fully recyclable, complying with EU, FDA and Southeast Asia food contact regulations.
